Lookup table using Numpy and limitations
« on: May 26, 2013, 01:07:24 AM »
I am new to Python and if I can know how to build lookup tables in Numpy with output on Excel cell will be very helpful.
is there any limitation on size of table which can be built in PYXLL.

Hi,

no, the only limitation is memory. Not sure what you want to do with lookup tables, but if you're worried about the tables being too large then you might be better off using a database (not necessarily because of size limitations, but because doing lookups in a database for large datasets is likely to be faster and easier than implementing something yourself).

Best regards,
Tony

Thanks. just want to use it for data extraction from table of about 400 values in 2 dimensions. Extracted data will be selected based on criteria and used in further calculations. Appreciate if you could put some simple example of say 20 values in 2 dimensions.
Thanks
